Assistant Site Manager – Isle of Grain, Kent

Murphy is currently recruiting for an Assistant Site Manager to join our award-winning Energy team in the Isle of Grain, Kent. Our team is known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Assistant Site Manager will be responsible for labour and materials across several trades on the project.
Following the ‘One Murphy’ approach, we’re able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients including National Grid, Cadent Gas, OPA, SGN, National Grid Ventures, on both transmission and distribution networks. Our projects include Compressor stations, Natural Gas and LNG Terminals, AGI’s, pipelines and diversions.
What you will be doing:
Hire and off hire plant, look after the plant registers, buy site sundry materials, and pull together requisitions to put into procurement for permanent materials.
To plan and coordinate all work on a small site, ensuring work is completed on time and to the agreed standard.
To monitor progress periodically against the project plan and monitor expenditure, resolving issues but may escalate critical operational issues to the Project Manager.
Line management of trade roles and sub-contractors ensuring standards are maintained and ensuring sufficient resources are available. 
To ensure the work is delivered in accordance with the contract design and specifications.
To ensure trades roles and sub-contractors adhere to the highest standards of health, safety and environment always ensuring compliance.
Review plant, labour, and materials on a weekly basis and to ensure resources are in place for the short term (monthly). 
Liaise with the Project Manager to resolve any technical issues outside of the scope of works.
To comply with company standards, policies, and procedures.  
Who we are looking for:
HNC Building Studies or a degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Management.
Previous expertise of site supervision in the form of Section Manager / General Foreman.
Solid health and safety knowledge and potentially holds a health and safety related qualification.
CSCS Card
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
First aid qualification is desirable. 
Good interpersonal skills with previous line management experience.
