Location of role Oxford, UK Department Protein Engineering Key Responsibilities Purpose of the roleWithin protein engineering, the assay development and high-throughput screening team are responsible for delivering robust automated assays for early drug discovery, with molecules including soluble TCRs and antibodies. One key area of focus is the development of high-throughput automated cell assays, which are essential for lead discovery of a wide range of targets.The purpose of this role is to optimise high-throughput flow cytometry preparation to increase throughput, reduce hands on time and make improvements to cell staining methodologies. Once optimised you will then be able to apply your new method to drug discovery workflows. As part of this role, you will learn how to design and carry out cell binding assays, operate and script automation and collaborate with colleagues across multiple projects.Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain mammalian cells in culture, passaging them and expanding them for experimentsPerform cell staining to assess binding of effectors to targetsUtilise automation within workflowsOptimise and validate automated cell stainingAttend project meetings and engage with scientists and project leadsCollaborate with various teams to understand how the automated cell staining workflow can be applied to multiple projects by all teamsEducation & QualificationsUndertaking (currently in second year and looking for a year in industry) BSc. in Biological or Biomedical SciencesWhat will you receive?Join Immunocore for a paid placement and gain insights from our innovative science and corporate growth.
