Senior Backend Engineer - 1/2 days a month - Up to £100,000


Burns Sheehan is currently partnered with a leading, London-based insurer who are going through a large tech transformation.


They are now on the lookout for an experienced and hands-on Senior Backend Engineer to build and maintain integrations between 3rd party and internal systems.


Key responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership in designing and implementing integration strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee and lead complex integration projects from conception to completion.
  • Architect and design scalable and robust integration solutions, considering long-term system sustainability and flexibility.
  • Mentor and guide junior integration engineers, providing technical expertise, best practices, and constructive feedback.


Skills and experience:

  • Significant experience (typically 8+ years) in integration engineering roles.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Node.js and TypeScript
  • Strong knowledge of Azure cloud technologies and Terraform IaC
  • Experience with API design, RESTful APIs, and other integration protocols.
  • Knowledge of data integration patterns and ETL processes is important for effectively moving and transforming data between different systems.
