PR Manager, Poppyscotland

City, United Kingdom Royal British Legion Full time

Are you an experienced PR professional looking for a new challenge? Would you like to lead the public image of a well loved charity where you will truly make a difference?

We have an opportunity a PR Manager to take the lead for Poppyscotland on a permanent basis.

In recent years Poppyscotland have secured an extremely high media profile and engaged in many innovative PR activities to highlight the needs of our beneficiaries and the impact of our work. We have also secured the support of several celebrity ambassadors to further enhance our publicity. We now have an opportunity for you to step into managing this function and ensuring continuing success.

This role will see you maintaining and enhancing Poppyscotland's public standing through the creation, development and delivery of compelling messaging and content. You will be the primary contact for national, regional and local media, delivering a first-class media relations service and providing a comprehensive media relations support function to internal stakeholders.

Poppyscotland provides life-changing support to our Armed Forces community which includes those who have served, those still serving, and their families. At times of crisis and need we offer them vital advice, assistance and funding.

Come and be part of the leading Armed Forces charity, making a difference to the lives of those who have served to keep us safe and protect our way of life.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Build Poppyscotland's profile and standing by generating coverage via national, local and digital media channels.
  • Engage and influence a wide range of audiences including the Armed Forces community, supporters, volunteers, national and local government, other charities and the general public.
  • Act as primary point of contact within Poppyscotland for all media enquiries and respond effectively, both during office hours and out of hours.
  • Develop and maintain links with the media in Scotland, both nationally and regionally, to maximise coverage for Poppyscotland.
  • Assist with the development of the organisation's key messages ensuring they are consistently delivered and the brand is promoted accurately and positively.
  • Work with Head of Marketing to contribute to and develop the marketing strategy.
  • Work with PR & Marketing Coordinator on day to day basis.

While experience of working for a publisher or broadcaster is beneficial, you must be able to demonstrate your success in building the reputation and standing of an organisation through delivering strategic communications strategies. With more news content moving online, we are especially keen to hear from candidates with a track record of increasing an organisations presence and profile on digital media platforms.

Here at Poppyscotland, we aim to support our people and their wellbeing, with a package including generous paid holiday allowance and pension scheme contributions, and a range of optional benefits and discounts.

The normal place of work for this post is New Haig House, 66 Logie Green Road, Edinburgh, EH7 4HQ. Under our Future Working framework, there will be some flexibility for working remotely/at home, using our collaboration tools. Your People Manager will determine the requirements of this based on Poppyscotland policy.

For more detailed information about the role, please see Job Description attached to our direct advert.

We guarantee an interview to any applicant who declares a disability or/and are part or Armed Forces community on application and whose application demonstrates that they meet the Essential criteria of the role, as set out in the Person Specification.

Closing Date: Tuesday 27th August 2024
