This role focusses on the preparation, development and analysis of financial information for the management team to use when making well-informed decisions, in order to secure future stability, growth and profitability of the Company. Analysis of the performance of the business and advising on how to prevent problems, adapt to changing circumstances and improve value. Managing and reducing operational and production costs and implementing newer, more effective strategies; establishing and maintaining financial policies and management information systems, as well as provide a high-quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance. The role combines accounting and business management skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
*Managing all day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring all transactions are recorded, filed and reported properly.
*Preparing periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis and commentaries to specific deadlines.
*Monitoring and interpreting financial statements and forecasting future trends.
*Analysing change and advising accordingly.
*Analysing, formulating and advising on strategic and long-term business plans and forecasts.
*Offering professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performance.
*Advising on the financial implications of business decisions.
*Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings.
*Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk.
*Ensuring all financials systems are fit for purpose, are maintained, and potential areas for improvement are recognised.
*Managing budgets by conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
*Preparation of data supporting pricing models, methodology and appropriate systems.
*Managing financial accounting, monitoring and reporting systems.
*Managing the working capital of the Company.
*Negotiating on major projects, loans and grants..
*Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organisations such as the HMRC.
*Liaising with external bodies to ensure any appropriate monitoring is carried out.
*Leading and mentoring the Finance Team.
*Providing a support service by working with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions.
*Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial team members.
*Liaising with other function managers to put finances and accounts in context.
*Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
*Implementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.
*Additional duties as deemed reasonable and necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Skills, Qualifications & Training
CIMA / ACCA qualification
Other suitable experience may be considered
Qualities and Attitude
Strong analytical, numerical and problems solving skills.
Focus on attention to detail.
A people person with high values in respect and the ability to spot talent within your team.
The ability to train and develop team members to a high standard.
Excellent communication skills alongside confident leadership and management skills.
A good communicator that must be a team player and work within the role to help deliver team results; prepared to go the extra mile to deliver customer expectations whilst maintaining consideration of the cost to the business.
The ability to explain financial information clearly to facilitate effective financial control across the business.
The ability to develop team members to deliver objectives on time in full to exceptional levels in terms of quality and delivery and create an exceptional customer service with internal and external customers.
Product Knowledge/IT Packages
Must be conversant with Microsoft office packages.
