The opportunity:
The STA New Model Launch Engineer has the responsibility for delivery of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) through the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP). As part of a team of engineers based in region for new model quality and delivery of suppliers production parts and the candidate has the responsibility of working with Internal Stakeholders and Supplier representatives to ensure our client’s requirements are met. Upfront support with concept/design failure mode avoidance (DFMEA & PFMEA). From engineering release completing PPAP checklists, supporting checking fixture and gauge design strategy and confirming suppliers initial control plan.
The candidate will be ensuring tools are in home location to support programme timings. Supporting production trial runs once tools are in home location and confirming part quality and dimensional status from trial runs. Confirming control plans and quality assurance process robustness, ready for Run-at-Rate. Update Failure Mode Avoidance documents with learning. Review PPAP submission pack including PV testing results. Confirm all PPAP elements are complete, review data and sign PSW.

The Opportunity:
* Supporting APQP process, using commodity plans to confirm supplier product delivery plans.
* Attend/lead APQP formal reviews and interim sessions as required.
* Validate and confirm Supplier’s installed capacity for New Model Launch components.
* Issue resolution including onsite support at supplier manufacturing locations linked to FMA, production part quality or PPAP documentation failures.
* The role should support the STA vision of driving manufacturing excellence into the supply base of the given COC components and will require a mixture of operational, tactical and support of strategic purchasing activities.
* The role will require frequent travel to supplier facilities in the UK and possibly Europe.
* This role is specific to Body-in-White (BIW) and could cover extruding, casting, cold and hot stamping, and additional assembly work (welding, SPAC nuts, weld nuts, projection welding, adhesive etc.) as required.
Experience Required:
Essential:
* Previous experience in a Quality, Manufacturing or Engineering environment gained at engineer or management level.
* A proven track record in Quality Management in a manufacturing or technical environment.
* Excellent Stakeholder Management and Relationship Management skills and experience.
* Able to effectively manage and execute complex projects on time.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels of the organisation and with External Suppliers/Customers.
* Experience of APQP and PPAP.
* Experience of Body-in-White is preferred.
* Significant problem solving experience.
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience Desirable:
Project Management experience.
Key Performance Indicators:
Delivery of Part Approval activities to achieve following operational performance targets: Level1
Our client’s Corporate target contribution: 100% Phas PSW @ PPB (PP) build for all vehicle programmes
Level 2 STA Target Contribution: 100% Phase 1 PSW @ PVB(TT) build for all vehicle programmes 100% eAPQP items concurred within 30 days.
No supplier stales (reconfirming RAG status within eAPQP at least once every 30 days).
Maintenance of the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) Tracker(s)
Ensuring Supplier Commitment Dates are relevant, appropriate and realistic and ensuring timely completion of their commitment date sheet.
