Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery:
    • Plan deliver and evaluate engaging and stimulating English lessons across the curriculum catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 78) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 911) in line with the National Curriculum.
    • Differentiate your teaching to meet the diverse needs of all learners ensuring that every student has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
    • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation critical thinking and a love of learning.
    • Utilize a variety of teaching methods including interactive discussions group work creative writing activities drama techniques and technology integration to cater to diverse learning styles and ensure all students can develop their literacy skills effectively.
    • Foster a love of reading and literature by introducing students to a wide range of texts encouraging independent reading and facilitating book clubs and literary discussions.
  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Design and implement effective assessment strategies to monitor student progress in reading writing speaking and listening skills utilizing both formative and summative assessments.
    • Provide students with clear constructive feedback that helps them improve their writing reading and analytical skills utilizing a variety of feedback methods including written feedback peer review and selfassessment.
    • Analyze student data to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement informing your teaching practice and ensuring that all students make progress.
  • Pastoral Care:
    • Contribute to the pastoral care of students supporting their wellbeing and personal development.
    • Build positive relationships with students fostering a sense of belonging and creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues parents and support staff to address any pastoral concerns and ensure that all students have the support they need to thrive.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified English teacher with a demonstrable track record of success in engaging students: Possess a recognized teaching qualification and demonstrate a successful track record of teaching English at the secondary level with a passion for inspiring and motivating students.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of literature and language in students of all abilities: Demonstrate a deep understanding of English language and literature including grammar vocabulary literary analysis and critical thinking skills. Share your passion for the subject and inspire students to develop a lifelong love of language and literature.
  • Strong pedagogical skills and the ability to deliver innovative and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles: Employ a variety of teaching strategies to engage students with different learning styles and abilities ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed.
  • A commitment to high standards and the ability to create a positive stimulating and supportive learning environment: Set high expectations for student learning and behavior fostering a positive and supportive classroom environment where students feel motivated to learn and achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and collaboration skills: Communicate effectively with students colleagues and parents building strong relationships and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
