We are currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated General Medicine Consultant to join our dynamic team. As a Consultant in General Medicine, you will play a key role in providing comprehensive medical care to patients with a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Responsibilities:
Provide expert clinical leadership and specialist medical care to patients admitted to the medical wards, outpatient clinics, and emergency department.
Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, diagnosis, and management of patients with complex medical conditions, coordinating multidisciplinary care plans and treatment interventions.
Lead and participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical meetings, collaborating effectively with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure integrated and holistic patient care.
Provide mentorship, supervision, and support to junior medical staff, including Specialty Registrars, Core Trainees, and Foundation Doctors, in the delivery of patient care and professional development activities.
Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical guidelines, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, clinical outcomes, and service delivery standards.
Engage in teaching, training, and supervision of medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the department.
Participate in audit, research, and service development projects, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge, evidence-based practice, and innovation in healthcare delivery.
Requirements:
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and eligibility for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register in General (Internal) Medicine or equivalent qualification.
Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine.
Extensive clinical experience in General Medicine, including acute medical care, outpatient management, and medical specialty expertise.
Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to provide clinical guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior medical staff and contribute to service development and improvement initiatives.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment and engage effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
