The Phoenix Tavern is embarking on an exciting new chapter Located in the heart of historic Faversham, our 14th-century pub is renowned for its charm and high-quality food. As we undertake a dynamic rebrand, our aim is to broaden our appeal, making exceptional food accessible to everyone—from families and walkers to food enthusiasts and casual diners. We are committed to sourcing the finest local ingredients and providing a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We are now seeking a passionate, innovative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and help us create memorable dining experiences for all.
The Role:
As the Head Chef at The Phoenix Tavern, you will play a pivotal role in our rebranding journey. You will be responsible for developing and executing two distinct menus: an À La Carte Menu that emphasises high-quality, locally sourced ingredients at accessible prices, and a Bar Menu designed for casual, yet satisfying dining. This is a unique opportunity to shape the culinary direction of a beloved local establishment, blending tradition with innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, inspire, and develop a kitchen team to deliver exceptional food consistently across both menus.
- Design and curate menus that celebrate local, seasonal ingredients, balancing affordability with creativity.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety.
- Work closely with local suppliers to source the freshest ingredients, maintaining our commitment to sustainability and locality.
- Collaborate with management on menu pricing, kitchen budgets, and food cost control.
- Innovate and adapt menus to reflect customer feedback, seasonal changes, and food trends.
- Play a central role in the launch of the newly rebranded Phoenix Tavern, including menu tastings, special events, and community engagement.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a high-quality pub, restaurant, or similar establishment.
- A passion for using fresh, local ingredients and a commitment to culinary excellence.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Creativity and innovation in menu development, with an understanding of balancing quality with accessibility.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing demands.
- A collaborative spirit, eager to work with the management team to achieve our vision for The Phoenix Tavern.
