Role: Operations Director (Project Management)

Our client, a privately owned, leading global construction and consultancy firm are looking for an experienced lead project manager to take on the role of Operations Director working on a high containment CL4 laboratory project. We are ideally looking for an expert with previous experience on high containment laboratory construction projects (CL1, CL2, CL3 or CL4) who will lead the programme through design stage, ECI and contractor procurement and management. The ideal candidate will be very client facing, strategic and have proven experience in leading, developing and growing a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of high containment laboratory projects.
Provide strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure projects meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement project plans, budgets, and timelines.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines.
Identify and mitigate potential risks and challenges associated with laboratory projects.
Review tender documents and participate in the tender review process to select appropriate contractors.
Manage contractors post-appointment, ensuring alignment with project strategies and objectives.
Evaluate contractor proposals and challenges to ensure they are sensible and feasible.
Provide expert advice and consultancy on construction-related aspects of laboratory projects.
About you:
Proven experience in a senior/director level project management role, ideally within a high containment laboratory environment or similar.
Extensive background in laboratory projects and construction consulting.
Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in a scientific context.
Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and grow a team of professionals.
Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
