We are looking for a ‘person centred’ and self motivated person to join us as a Panel Advisor within the Quality Assurance team with a focus on Adoption Panels. Adopt South West is a DDP informed agency and offer training opportunities including in Theraplay and DDP.
Adopt South West is the Regional Adoption Agency providing adoption services for the five local authorities, Cornwall, Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay councils. Devon County Council are the host Local Authority for the agency.
Adopt South West have offices based across the region.
The applicant must be a qualified social worker and have at least five years’ relevant post-qualifying experience and relevant management experience.
The panel advisor post is on a permanent basis within the quality assurance and adoption panel service. The post will primarily cover the Adopt South West regional adoption panels and the role will involve quality assuring the paperwork presented to panel, supporting the day to day functions of the panel team and attended adoption panels as the agencies panel advisor.
The adoption panels are currently held virtually however, you will be required to work in a hybrid manner.
You will have a range of experience working with children and families and ideally safeguarding and adoption. You will demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of social work practice in relation to permanence and understand the needs of adoptive families and children. You will have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise your own workload and work independently.
You will need a child centred approach and an understanding of the needs of children who have left their birth families as a result of abuse or neglect. Knowledge about the impact of early trauma and its manifestations is essential, as well as an ability to work with a wide variety of individuals- independent panel members, social workers, adopters and other professionals, both locally and nationally.
You will play a key role in the function of the regional adoption panels and quality assurance.
