Microscopy Manager

PositionnAuthorising / signing off reports for submission to clients.nStaff management including training, development and support.nResponding to client enquiries and providing tailored quotes.nResponsible for steering, focusing and developing new service offerings/analyses within Microscopy.nUndertaking microscopic investigations of; glass/foreign bodies of a highly varied nature, ‘non-standard’ samples, authenticity screening and food microstructure. Preparation and submission of technical reports to food industry clients and/or internal members of staff when required.nTo keep neat and orderly records of results and other relevant information.nTo work in a safe manner in accordance with departmental policies.nTo work in accordance with the Campden BRI Management System.
RequirementsnScience degree.nStrong working knowledge and experience of Microscopy techniques (stereo, compound and scanning electron) and FT-IR spectroscopy in order to assist with the development of new services/analytical techniques.nExcellent verbal and written communication skills to engage and build rapport with existing, potential, and new clients.nEffective at managing client expectation.nTransferring specialist knowledge to other members of the team.nCompetent in following written methods and procedures in the laboratory.nExperience in using databases for example LIMS.nExcellent time management and adherence to timescales.nAbility to work on own or as part of a team.nAbility to work well under pressure.nAccurate record keeping.nEffective co-ordination and collaboration of project groups / internal teams.
