About the Role:
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Safety Defect Contract Manager. You will play a key role in planning, controlling, managing, and coordinating all operational and commercial activities in line with company policies, processes, and procedures. Your efforts will ensure a safe and environmentally friendly operation, service delivery, and customer satisfaction, while also assisting clients with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely deliver the safety defect service on the Surrey Highways Contract.
- Take full responsibility for operational and commercial matters.
- Ensure service delivery aligns with contractual obligations agreed with Surrey County Council.
- Monitor Performance Indicators and achieve targets.
- Lead weekly cost and value review meetings.
- Promote and understand the company policy relating to Ringway operations in Surrey.
- Liaise between senior management, client representatives, commercial teams, supervisors, and the workforce to ensure works are on budget and on schedule while meeting the highest quality standards.
- Understand and promote highway inspections and defect repairs.
- Provide clients with correct documentation, including programs and safe systems of work.
- Maintain the highest standards of environmental, safety, and health.
- Manage pricing, costing, and billing processes to ensure accurate and timely orders and payments.
- Provide advice through ECI to ensure designs are fit for purpose and buildable.
- Oversee the construction process, ensuring milestones are met and standards adhered to.
- Ensure compliant safe systems of work, including temporary works processes and permitting systems.
- Train and ensure competency of the operational team.
- Identify and allocate specialist contractors and suppliers as needed.
Candidate Profile:
Required:
- Current Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate.
- Driving Licence.
- At least 5 years of experience in a construction/civil engineering management role.
- Competence with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Project, TEAMS).
- Flexible and approachable attitude.
- Demonstrable knowledge of safety barriers, VRS, and maintenance processes.
Preferred/Favourable:
- IOSH/NEBOSH qualification.
- ICE or equivalent industry qualification.
- Temporary works coordinator.
- First Aid at Work.
- Trade or engineering background.
