Normanton on Soar, United Kingdom JC Metalworks Full time
Do you have a good head for numbers? Are you commercially aware with analytical skills? Do you want to join a team of experts who are brilliant at what they do, while genuinely wanting to support each other to do a great job?
We're JC Metalworks and we design and manufacture high-volume precision metalwork products which can finish up in FTSE100 companies, high-street brands, design agencies or SMEs. We're well on our way to becoming the UK's leading experts in sheet metal production, driven by an exceptionally talented team of people, each one an expert in their field and committed to excellence for our customers.
As we grow, we're looking for talented and enthusiastic people who want to develop their career in a progressive workplace that values and rewards teamwork, new ideas and a commitment to doing a great job, and we're now looking for another Estimator to join the team.
About the Estimator role
The main purpose of this position is to support sales by providing accurate estimates within the specified timeframe. Ensuring that all specifications and criteria are met to satisfy customer, legislative, and industry requirements. Additionally, the role involves ensuring that the department's systems and procedures run efficiently and to schedule, always promoting JC Metalwork's products and company image in a positive manner.
Your duties and responsibilities include:
Accurate and timely estimates: Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and within the specified timeframe.
Meeting customer needs: Verify that all information provided meets the customer's requirements.
Client briefs and advice: Take briefs from clients and the sales team for new projects. Offer expert advice on manufacturing methods to optimise cost and timelines.
Prompt responses: Respond to client inquiries promptly via phone and email, adhering to agreed service levels.
Quotation and follow-up: Provide clients with detailed estimates using the company's quotation software and follow up as needed.
Accurate specifications: Ensure that all specifications for procured parts are accurate and readily available for the Purchasing Department to schedule.
CRM maintenance: Keep the CRM software updated with relevant information daily.
Technical assistance: Provide technical advice and support to both customers and colleagues.
Cost reduction: Investigate opportunities to reduce costs in design, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients: you'll need to build trust and rapport to drive client satisfaction and loyalty.
The skills and experience we're looking for:
Understanding of manufacturing processes
An excellent communicator with strong customer service skills
High Attention to detail
Ability to read manufacturing drawings.
Ability to make decisions with sound and accurate judgment.
Experience of using an MRP system would be an advantage but not essential.
MS Office skills
Minimum GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in English and Maths
The salary range for this role is £(phone number removed) p/a, depending on your experience.
What we expect from yoo
At JC Metalworks, we live by our values and expect everyone who joins us to live by them, too:
Fair and open: voicing your views constructively, communicating honestly and treating everyone with respect.
Reliable and trustworthy: being a 'go-to' person who gets the job done, working safely, taking care of our workplace and machinery, wanting to do more than what's expected.
Creative thinking: always coming up with new ideas, not scared to try new things (even if they don't work), identifies problems and then finds solutions.
Team effort: supporting your colleagues and the wider team, focused on what's best for the overall department and company.
What you can expect working at JC Metalworks
We're a family business genuinely committed to taking care of our employees and helping them thrive. We want everyone to have a great experience at work - one where they get the satisfaction and challenge from a job well done and can work in a well-equipped, high-tech and safe environment. Some of our benefits include:
The JC Metalworks Profit Share Scheme

Extra holidays at two and five years of service
Healthcare cash plan and life cover plan
Cycle to work and electric car schemes
Excellent career progression opportunities, with comprehensive personalised training programmes for everyone
Family-friendly working hours and policies

Here, every employee has a voice and we want to hear everyone's opinions and ideas, no matter their background or role or how long they've been here. Likewise, we expect everyone, at every level of the organisation, to get the respect they deserve.
We've come a long way in the past 38 years, but we're not stopping there. We're committed to keep progressing and are looking for people who want to help us drive that change.
