Wage/Salary: Term time (39 weeks) £25.00 gross per hour. Retainer wage paid at £12.50 gross per hour, if you are required to work, you will be paid the usual £25.00 gross per hour. £45,281.30+ gross per annum.
Essential: Experience supporting a teenager with Autistic Spectrum Condition, anxiety/mental health needs. A love of the Arts and literature. This role is open to *female candidates only.
Desirable: An interest in animation and cartoons.
Start Date: 27th August 2024.
Days & Hours: Term time (39 weeks of the year) Monday to Friday: 9.00am – 4.30pm. School holidays: See notes below.
Family/Client Pets: One Cat.
Recruiter: Natasha
About this client/child: Maud (17) is an intelligent, and engaging teenager, who enjoys art, music, politics, history and films. She loves animation and attends college 5 days a week to study this. She lives in London, with her Mum and Dad. Maud has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition, and she is currently experiencing anxiety, depression and agoraphobia. She also has hypotonia, some hearing loss and a slight speech impairment. She had scoliosis which was operated on a few years ago with great success. Maud can experience dysregulation, which can present as panic attacks, and she is looking for a professional support worker to help her through these times.
Overview of role: Maud is looking for a professional *female, support worker, to support her at college, which is a short walk from her house. She would like someone to meet her at her home in the morning and walk there with her. Once there, her support worker can sit at the back of the class, Maud does not need any support academically. She may need help to stay focused regarding
homework and during big projects. Maud has been experiencing agoraphobia, depression and panic attacks, and she has been finding it hard to leave the house and remain at college. Maud’s support worker will support her to attend and be on the lookout for her becoming dysregulated and having a panic attack. If Maud has a panic attack, she might like to leave the classroom and sit in the library, which is one of her favourite places. She will need support and encouragement to re-join her lesson and finish her work. At lunch time, students are allowed to leave the building, it would be great if Maud and her support worker could go off site and enjoy some lunch together or stay in school and eat at the cafeteria and maybe help with socialization. The role could at some point also include accompanying Maud to various appointments, or going out for coffee/to shops, on shorter school days. Maud often goes away during school holidays with her parents, so her support worker is usually not required to work and will be paid a retainer fee during these times. There is scope to potentially work some hours during the holidays, as Maud’s confidence grows. Any hours worked during school holidays will be paid at the usual £25.00 gross per hour. All annual leave is to be taken within the 13 weeks of school holidays each year. On rare occasions the support worker may be asked to be at home with Maud when her parents are absent.
Who this job would suit: This role would suit a confident, empathetic and motivating, *female support worker, who has fantastic experience supporting adolescents with mental health needs and autistic spectrum conditions. Someone with tried and tested strategies to implement and support someone through periods of dysregulation. Someone with similar interests including a love of the arts and literature.
What’s great about this job: This is a fabulous role, supporting Maud to complete her studies. With the right support, she will have a fantastic outcome at college, and that is an incredible journey to be part of.
Who is recruiting for this role? Snap Care will be carrying out all recruitment including shortlisting, recruiter interviews and arranging employer interviews. Please note, unfortunately, we are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies.
* When a specific gender is essential, it is considered a genuine occupational requirement under paragraph 1, schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010, for a female or male worker to work with our client
