Key Requirements:
* Excellent technical legal skills and relevant experience.
* Qualified solicitor/lawyer or Chartered Legal Executive, with membership in the appropriate professional body.
* Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and tasks.
Responsibilities:
* Provide legal advice and guidance to both in-house and external public body clients.
* Handle a full caseload of contentious and non-contentious criminal and enforcement matters, including:
* Complex fraud cases
* Confiscation proceedings
* Consumer complaint prosecutions
* Planning and Environmental Enforcement Prosecutions
* Highways Enforcement Notices and Prosecutions
Job Purpose:
As a qualified criminal and enforcement lawyer, you will be part of a team committed to delivering high-quality advice, information, analysis, and interpretation to clients, supporting effective decision-making, and meeting statutory requirements. You will be involved in high-profile and potentially groundbreaking criminal and enforcement matters, providing advice on all aspects of criminal and enforcement law.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified solicitor, barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with current membership in the Law Society, Bar Standards Board, or Cilex.
* Ideally, a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience, though those with less experience will be considered.
* Significant commercial awareness and the ability to build excellent working relationships.
* Experience in a politically sensitive environment, providing high-quality legal advice.
* Expertise in advising at all stages of the criminal investigation process, from pre-charge to sentencing.
* Experience in acting as the reviewing lawyer on criminal matters and drafting formal Notices.
