Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant - Barking
About the role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with additional needs in our Reception class. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualized support plans, assist with classroom activities, and ensure that each child can participate fully in their learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with additional needs in Reception.
Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
Help manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
Support the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere that promotes the social, emotional, and academic development of each child.
Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
Assist with personal care tasks when necessary, ensuring the well-being of the children.
Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant you will:
A levels or equivalent; a relevant qualification in education or childcare is preferred
Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is essential
Basic understanding of SEN strategies and interventions
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children with additional needs
