Our purpose is simple - Putting Patients First. We are looking for exceptional colleagues who can help us achieve this. The Biochemistry department at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals offers a wide range of diagnostic testing facilities at both Worcester Royal Hospital and The Alexandra Hospital.

The Department is UKAS accredited and is recognised by the IBMS for HCPC pre-Registration and Specialist Diploma training in Clinical Biochemistry. The post holders would be working 37.5 hours/week and be required to work out of hours as operationally required. The department supports both acute hospital sites and so provides a 24/7 service in which the successful candidate would be expected to take an active part once training is completed.

*Responsibilities include:*

· Prepare, store, and use reagents and consumables in a manner suitable for patient investigations.

· Perform manual laboratory procedures such as precision pipetting, reagent preparation and complex analytical procedures.

· Undertake technical validation of complex results from laboratory investigations to ensure accuracy and precision as specified by laboratory protocols.

· To be able to calibrate, maintain, operate and troubleshoot expensive and complex hardware and software.

*To be successful in applying for this role you will need:*

· Registration with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist

· At least two years post registration experience in all aspects of a Biochemistry Laboratory

· Good verbal and written communication skills

· Accredited BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or equivalent

· Experience in all aspects of routine Clinical Biochemistry
