Purchasing Manager

Consortium Professional Recruitment are pleased to be representing a leading manufacturer, who are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Manager to join their team in the Hull area. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and cost-effective procurement of materials and services required for their operations, as well as lead a team of 3.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire procurement process, from identifying suppliers and negotiating contracts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply of materials.
- Source and negotiate competitive pricing for materials and services, while ensuring quality standards are met.
- Oversee the implementation and management of procurement policies and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date on market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Work closely with internal departments, such as production, engineering, and finance, to ensure procurement activities align with overall business goals.
- Manage and motivate a team of procurement professionals
- Create accurate forecasts to optimise the supply chain against demand and trends.
- Conduct suppliers reviews on cost and performance and identify areas for improvement, working alongside the Procurement Director.
- Some overseas and UK travel will be required to visit suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a procurement or purchasing role.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating and managing supplier contracts.
- Strong understanding of procurement best practices and cost-saving techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with experience of managing a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
