If so, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to join our warm and welcoming school community in Islington, London. This full-time, long-term role is perfect for someone who is not only experienced in supporting children with non-verbal autism but also eager to contribute to a nurturing learning environment.
Application Requirements:
• Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, particularly non-verbal children.
• A strong understanding of SEN best practices and the ability to implement them effectively.
• Experience with alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton).
• A positive and proactive approach to working within a team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Key Responsibilities:
• One-on-one support for non-verbal children with ASD, helping them to engage with the curriculum and develop communication skills.
• Implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the teaching team.
• Using alternative communication methods such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) or Makaton to facilitate communication.
• Assisting with personal care when necessary, ensuring that the children feel comfortable and supported throughout the school day.
