About the Role
We are seeking a Level 3 Qualified Social Worker to join our Children with Disability Team at Westport House, Wareham. The role involves supporting children with disabilities and their families across East Dorset and Purbeck. You will assess needs, develop care plans, coordinate services, and work with multi-disciplinary teams.
What is the day-to-day of the role:
Working as a social worker involves helping individuals, families, and communities to improve their well-being and solve personal and social problems. Social workers provide support through counselling, advocacy, and connecting clients with resources and services. They work in various settings, including schools, hospitals, and community organisations, addressing issues like mental health, substance abuse, and child welfare. The role requires empathy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to social justice and making a positive impact on people's lives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
BA(Hons) in Social Work.
Registered with Social Work England (SWE).
Minimum three years post-qualifying experience in a Local Authority.
At least one year working with disabled children or young adults.
Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and short break procedures
