Transport Operations Manager
Leicestershire
Up to £55K + Car / Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits
Monday – Friday – Flexibility is required
The client:
A very well established, medium sized organisation who always put their customers first and utilise their expertise in transport and logistics. They operate a modern fleet of over 180 vehicles, equipped with the latest safety and tracking technology, and adhere to the highest standards of quality and compliance. The site in Leicestershire specialises in the distribution of liquefied natural gas (LNG), other cryogenic and pressurised gases, plus speciality chemicals.
The role:
We are looking for a Transport Operations Manager to join the team based at Magna Park. (You will be required to travel to other locations.) You will oversee the safe and efficient delivery of liquefied natural gas (LNG), other cryogenic and pressurised gases (including H2, LPG, LIN and CO2).
Key responsibilities:
* Adhere to and promote a safe working environment
* Training and supervising the transport staff and drivers on the proper handling and storage of cryogenic and compressed gases
* Planning and scheduling driver and vehicle resources according to customer demand and delivery deadlines
* Monitoring and tracking vehicles and drivers performance using GPS and other systems
* Ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental and regulatory standards and policies
* Troubleshooting and resolving any issues or problems that may arise during the transport process
* Evaluating and improving the transport performance and efficiency
* Liaising with customers, suppliers, contractors and other stakeholders
* Coordinate with Transport Planning and Fleet team to ensure smooth running of Operations
* Monitor and report on transportation costs
* Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
* Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
* Conduct regular safety audits on equipment
* Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation
* Stay up to date with safety regulations
About you:
* Proven experience in cryogenic and/or compressed gas transport is essential
* Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving and organisational skills
* A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
* Previous experience supervising and developing a team within a transport environment
* Expert understanding of relevant driver legislation: Working Time Directive, Tachograph Legislation
* Relevant Logistics / Supply Chain qualification or equivalent experience
* International Transport Managers CPC is desirable but not essential
* Conversant in IT skills e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and CRM systems.
* Competent in and experience of incident investigations
* Ability to work independently and as part of a Team
* Willingness to learn and adapt as the business changes
* Continuous Improvement mind-set
