We are a leading provider of plant hire services across the UK. We work closely with clients in construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure, ensuring they have the right tools to get the job done efficiently.
Responsibilities:
* Dealing with the maintenance and breakdowns of our fleet of plant. You will ideally have previous experience of overseeing the maintenance of powered equipment, petrol engines, hydraulic systems, electrical and be familiar with various diagnostics equipment.
* Lead by example and ensure all company procedures and standards are met.
* Responsible for ensuring safe working practices are adhered to at all times e.g. accidents, investigations, risk assessments and daily checks.
* You will be responsible for decision making as well as supervising / managing a team of engineers, fitters and other team members.
* Overseeing orders for spares and consumables in line with company authorization limits remaining within monthly and annual budgets.
* To manage the relationships with the Fleet & Plant Supply Chain
* To keep abreast of developments in the Fleet & Plant industry to ensure a range of appropriate options is available to improve business performance
* Line Management of immediate team in line with policies and procedures
* Taking breakdown from customers over the telephone and email and ensuring that a fast and reliable solution is found
* Oversee damages incurred on site and ensure that re-charges are managed efficiently to protect the company’s bottom line
* You will need to prioritize the repair of equipment that is scheduled to go on-hire.
* Oversee daily workshop activities including ordering of parts, escalations from customers.
* Supervise the workshop facilities and equipment.
Experience:
* Proven experience in a service controller, service coordinator, or similar role within the plant hire, construction, or heavy machinery industry.
* Strong understanding of plant machinery, including maintenance requirements and common repair issues.
* Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively liaise with engineers, site teams, and management.
* Competency in using service management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively, minimizing equipment downtime.
* High level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in record-keeping and reporting.
