Acorn by Synergie is working on behalf of a client who is looking for a freelance Site Engineer for a commercial construction project in West Wales for 35 weeks
The project is a large commercial development that is being refurbished and turned into a new venue. Will be reporting to the senior site manager and is responsible for assisting them in managing and the engineering aspect work
Main responsibility is to physically set out the main control (line & level) for the whole of the works, to provide reference points for contractors to set out their work elements and set out drainage / shutter lines, etc for the groundworks contractor, gridline / off- set lines/ Datums for Dry Lining, curtain walling works and blockwork.
Whilst not responsible for setting out all of the works on behalf of the contractors, you must assist contractors wherever possible to ensure that the correct control is maintained throughout and accuracy is maintained. This will include undertaking quality control checks on the installed works and completing the work inspection records.
The Site Engineer is also responsible for the following:
Ensure that the latest information for main control and for contractors to set out their works is current and is issued 'for construction'.
To check that contractors are setting out in accordance with the latest information.
Ensure information/specification issued to each contractor is recorded.
Review product/ material proposal in accordance with the specification.
Maintain a watching brief over contractors setting out and ensuring that they are utilising the correct control points in that process.
To liaise with contractors' managers and supervisors over all aspects of their engineered works and assist in providing and locating the latest information.
Issue and close out Non Conformance Reports as and when deemed necessary.
Be aware of programme requirements both long and short term.
Monitor progress of the works against programme and report findings to senior managers.
Provide their own setting out equipment.
Produce/maintain project records as directed by the Site Manager.
An understanding of each specialist contractors order, including all attendances.
Must be fully conversant with each contractors method statement and risk assessment and oversee the work ensuring that it is being executed safely and in accordance with the stated methodology.
Maintain a daily site diary and register in it details including all areas of delay and disruption.
Candidates must have:
Degree or HNC/HND in a construction-related or engineering discipline
CSCS Card
Experience on commercial projects
Own equipment
Duration - 35 weeks approximately
Day Rate - Negotiable
