Our client, a specialist in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Local Access Distribution & Telephony Network Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. The role will be based in Corsham, requiring a five-day workweek. This contract position is inside IR35 and runs from 2nd September 2024 to 31st March 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, development, building, and validation of all networking components forming the LAD T Platform
Production and review of all design artefacts
Supporting wider NSoIT(D) system testing activities
Collaborating with Service Management to resolve issues
Design, deploy and test network configurations with a focus on secure, repeatable solutions
Documentation of all configuration elements
Participating in stakeholder meetings to communicate and justify proposed solutions
Job Requirements:
Essential skills, qualifications, and experience:
IT Network experience, with proficiency in Cisco Routing and Switching
Experience with Multi-Protocol Border Gateway Protocol (MP-BGP), Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF), and Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS)
Knowledge of Dynamic Multipoint Virtual Private Networks (DM-VPN) / FlexVPN / IPSec, Access Control Lists (ACL), and Quality of Service (QoS)
Understanding of Hierarchical IP Subnetting
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Critical thinking and analytical skills
Hold a valid Security Clearance (SC)
Competency in the MS Office Suite
Desirable skills, qualifications, and experience:
Experience with VMWare ESXi Hypervisor, Unified Communications, and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
Knowledge of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Domain Name System (DNS) configuration
Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, NETCONF, RESTCONF)
Familiarity with the Atlassian toolset (JIRA and Confluence)
Experience in developing secure architecture within a multi-tenanted environment
