Overview of role:
The job holder will support the Classroom Teacher(s) to facilitate the active participation and engagement of children in their learning. They will contribute to raising the standards of achievements for all pupils whilst promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons they are responsible for, or comes into contact with.
Key details:
  • Hours: Monday to Friday (8.20am to 3.35pm)
  • Term-time only (38 weeks per year), You will be expected to complete your coursework/ any learning during half terms/ breaks.

Apprenticeship details:

  • All learning delivered online alongside placement at the school.

Full Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working within the framework set by the teacher, to contribute effectively to the delivery of lessons adapting these where neccessary.
  • Monitoring and evaluating pupils participation and progress in particular lessons.
  • Supervising safely the learning activiites set by the class teacher.
  • Delivering specified work to individual pupils and small groups with SEN.
  • Mark (in line with the school's marking policy) and monitor carefully the progress made by pupils.
  • Works as a key member of a team ensuring the well being, social development and behaviouralabd personal development of pupils through recognising their potential and enhancing their learning opportunities and opportunities to develop life skills.
  • To supervise children in the dining and play areas during breaks. To ensure orderly conduct and promote good mealtime and positive play experiences in a safe and proactive manner.
  • To deliver SEN interventions
  • Provide personal care to the pupils if required. In conjunction with the Class Teacher, therapists and the leadership team, adapt learning activities to meet the needs of the pupils.
  • Take responsibility for delivering learning activities with individuals and small groups within the classroom, specialist and outdoor areas of the school and within the wider community and locality.
  • Establish and maintain supportive relationships with pupils, parents and carers and other staff.
  • Provide learning support using a range of techniques and technologies to meet each child's specific need.
  • Promote inclusion for all pupils.
  • Provide support for and/or implement personal care and nutrition programmes according to each student's level of independence.
  • Support the management of pupil behaviour and wellbeing using agreed de-escalation techniques.
  • Assist in maintaining student assessment records.
  • Contribute to reports on pupil progress and development as directed.
  • Monitor and track progress against pupils' EHCP outcomes and targets. Provide feedback as required.
  • Contribute to planning and evaluation.
  • Organise the learning environment and develop classroom resources.
  • Undertake general administrative support activities e.g. photocopying, display, resource preparation etc.
  • Support the delivery of the school curriculum.
  • Provide additional support for students as required.
  • Respond to pupils' individual needs by delivering appropriate activities and interventions.
  • Respond to individual need adapting the curriculum as necessary
  • Develop effective working relationships.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Participate fully in procedures for Performance Management and Review
