The Role:
As a Senior GRC Consultant at Synoptix, you will join our existing team and provide information security advisory and assurance services to Synoptix’s clients, conducting project-based work to help discover, analyse, report upon, and assist in the remediation / continual improvement of information security in client organisations. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing function within the wider Synoptix consultancy business.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
Consultative Approach 
Consultancy experience within the governance, risk & compliance; cyber security and/or the information assurance space. 
Can apply critical thinking to get to the core of complex situations and find strong solutions. 
Able to analyse information provided to comprehend problems and recommend solutions 
Can establish and build relationships quickly, to engage with clients and ensure projects are successful. 
Manages Complexity & Self-Organisation 
Has the ability to consistently manage workload across multiple projects simultaneously, including effectively reporting progress and any issues where required. 
Can articulate engagements as a process, such as a series of inputs and outputs, to communicate delivery methodologies and help identify pre-requisites. 
Effective Communicator 
Has strong emotional intelligence (EQ) to engage diverse groups by communicating in a way that matches each group's preferences. 
Listens carefully and probes beneath the surface to a better understanding and insight on others' views. 
Information & Cyber Security Savvy 
Has a keen interest in security, with an advanced understanding of the core concepts of information security, including how these translate within the real world and relate to cyber security. 
Knowledgeable in the characteristics of governance, risk, and compliance and their interrelationships within information security. 
Self-Starter 
Naturally uses own initiative when in uncertain situations, asks for assistance when in doubt, and provides guidance to others where required. 
Addresses tough organisational issues in a direct and professional manner. Achieves a good balance between defending own position and adapting to others’ needs.
Required Skills + Expertise: 
With the nature of the GRC Team’s work often described as ‘security generalist’, our primary focus is on an individual’s positive team-based outlook, their consultative expertise, and pragmatic problem-solving skillset.  
A successful candidate will have a good match to the profile above, with valid experience working in an information security role in a consultative capacity.
Whilst the GRC team places an emphasis on individual attitude and experience over industry qualifications, the following examples may be beneficial to the role: 
ISC2 certifications (CISSP, SSCP, CCSP, or CAP) 
ISACA certifications (CISM, CISA, or CRISC) 
CompTIA certifications (Security+, Network+, A+ or Cloud+) 
UKAS-accredited ISO certifications (Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor or Lead Implementor) across ISO 27001, ISO 9001, or ISO 22301 series of standards 
Other accredited qualifications and certification from reputable authorities such as the British Computer Society (BCS) etc.
