My client are seeking a skilled and experienced High Voltage Engineer to join there dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining high voltage electrical systems, particularly for underground cables. This role involves working on complex projects to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our high voltage infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:


Design and Development:

  • Develop detailed designs for high voltage underground cable systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Perform electrical calculations, simulations, and analysis to support design decisions.
  • Create technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for new projects and upgrades.


Project Management:

  • Lead and manage high voltage projects from conception through to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including civil engineers, project managers, and construction teams.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases.


Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Develop and implement maintenance plans for high voltage systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to high voltage equipment and infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular inspections and tests to identify potential problems and prevent failures.


Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all designs and operations comply with relevant electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety and implement safety protocols to protect personnel and equipment.
  • Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements for high voltage work.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in high voltage engineering, with a focus on underground cables.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering high voltage projects.
  • Experience with electrical design software and simulation tools.


Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of high voltage systems and components.
  • Proficiency in using design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, MATLAB).
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.


Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications in high voltage engineering and safety are advantageous.
