We are currently seeking to recruit a Senior Electrical & Instrument Designer to be based in Macclesfield, Cheshire.
The opportunity Due to our client's successful project expansion, they are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical & Instrument Designer to help support the local projects team through provision of Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services.
This role will require a high level of autonomy and strong communication skills.
The Senior Electrical & Instrument Designer will have a technical engineering design background.
Rate £42-48Ltd per hour dependent on experience (subject to an IR35 Assessment confirming outside status).
Location - Macclesfield/ Hybrid 3 days from the design office on site (Macclesfield) and 2 days per week from home.
40 hours per week - Monday – Friday
Ongoing contract duration
Projects within the current portfolio include
Extensive flow and pressure monitoring project.
Upgrade of effluent plant to PLC control.
Upgrade of process plant to DCS.Your duties and responsibilities will be 
The Senior Electrical Designer will work closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Manager supporting the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects.
Review and assess customer needs
Provide resource estimates for design related activities
Produce reports, scope of works, concept design and detailed designs (Typically RIBA 2-4)
Support effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
Produce documentation in accordance with defined standards / quality requirements.
Liaise with design and equipment subcontractors.
Lead the improvement of performance by seeking, reviewing and applying, where appropriate, innovative solutions.
Interface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil
This position requires significant interface with the client and the BGEN Installation team to meet these requirements it is recommended the Senior Electrical & Instrument Designer attends the Macclesfield office 3 days per week.You will have the following qualifications and experience 
Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a relevant design role including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector.
HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subject
Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable
Experience in UK pharmaceutical construction projects is desirable but not essential
Experience of E&I design best practices
Project lifecycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support)
Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures
Sound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
Undertake site surveys
Possess collaborative skills and experience working in part of a multi-discipline team
Possess ability to work in a team or alone, comfortable to liaise with client representatives
Strong communication and organisational skills
Provision of 2D and 3D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts and cable/containment routing diagrams
Single line diagrams
Earthing diagrams
Cable Block Diagrams
Instrument Loop Diagrams
Honeywell BMS Interface Diagrams
Experience in electrical building services design including LV Distribution, Lighting, Small Power, Fire Safety Systems, Security Systems, Structured Cabling etcSoftware Packages
Proficient use of the following software packages:
AutoCAD LT.
Relux/Dialux.
Electrical OM Cable Sizing Software / Trimble pro-design.
Navisworks.
Revit (Not essential).
