Background

Eight years ago, world leaders made a commitment to ensure by 2030 ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education. These targets are not being met. Launched in March 2023, Theirworld’s Act for Early Years campaign aims to bring about a transformation in early childhood support to get the world back on track.

The campaign advocates for an increase in the support and public funding to ensure every child gets the best start in life. It is a call to action to make a lasting difference for the future learning, health, well-being, and social and economic outcomes of the world’s youngest citizens. Our aim is to secure $1bn in investment in early childhood development programmes around the world for young children up to primary school starting age.
