Do you have significant business experience at a senior level within a high-growth business environment? Can you identify some of the most ambitious high-growth potential innovative SME’s in the UK and support them in accelerating their journey to scale and developing a robust strategy?
This role is an exclusive opportunity for a high calibre, experienced business leader to directly contribute to productivity growth in the UK by setting the standard for implementation and delivery of specialist support to scale-up companies.
You will be delivering a “high end” service for the very best businesses invited to participate in the Innovate UK Edge’s elite scale-up programme.
Innovate UK EDGE is a key part of the UK innovation agency’s deep investment in the pioneering businesses that drive economic growth. Operating nationally the Scale-up Director, will be employed by Coventry University Services Limited, which, as part of a national consortium, hosts a regionally-based team of Innovation & Growth Specialists whom you will join in offering impactful services to leading-edge businesses across the Midlands and beyond.
The Scale Up Director will ideally be based in or near to the Midlands region, being familiar with local networks, and will act as coach, mentor and critical friend to local and national business-leaders – a champion to those companies at the forefront of innovation and growth.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Exceptional networking, business development and sales skills, evidenced by being well-connected (ideally having international connectivity or access to it) with an extensive book of contacts.
- Grown their own business, understanding what it takes to succeed in global markets including the value of implementing strategies across international markets.
- Experience of raising £5m+ equity or debt.
- Understanding of floating on AIM and M&As.
- Accelerated entry into new markets and be experienced in working with and attracting high level NEDs.
- Understanding of what is required for SMEs meet the requirements of large companies and their supply chains.
- A global mindset and experience in the legal and operational aspects of doing business abroad.
- A good understanding of group structures.
- Awareness of the benefit of leveraging multiple support schemes, such as grants, R&D tax credits, debt and equity, financial guarantees, etc.
- Self-motivation a results focus
- Excellent organisational and planning skills, plus a meticulous focus on quality
