JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for the delivery and governance of a portfolio of business facing and technical projects. The role will involve strategic planning, prioritisation, resource allocation, and overseeing the successful delivery of IT and business initiatives.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Business/Organisational


Work with stakeholders to define project priorities, timelines, and resource allocation based on strategic objectives, resource availability, and budget constraints

Allocate resources effectively across projects, considering skills, availability, and project requirements

Establish metrics and KPIs to monitor the performance of IT projects. Regularly review project status, milestones, and deliverables. Prepare and present comprehensive reports to stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations

Develop and implement a project and portfolio governance framework, including change management structure, process and documentation, appropriate for a hybrid waterfall/agile environment

Ensure adherence to IT governance frameworks, policies, and compliance standards.

Responsible for work prioritisation and scheduling

Ensuring that the project teams adhere to the principles, guidelines, and best practices of the delivery and product strategy as defined

Provision of portfolio level MI to stakeholders


People/Culture

Provide leadership and expertise within the field of change delivery

Be an escalation point for all matters related to risks and issues within the portfolio and be the primary point of contact for the project management team

Line management of two to four change managers, including the setting and measurement of individual and team objectives


Experience

Must have a proven background in portfolio management including resourcing, budgeting, scheduling and reporting

Must have experience of MS Project or other planning and scheduling tools, ideally at a portfolio governance level

Must be able to demonstrate a track record of working within teams successfully delivering new and enhanced software applications to external clients

Should have previous software house or Insurtech experience


Skills & Competencies

Ability and drive to work independently without supervision and take ownership of assigned tasks

Good communication skills, both spoken and written are essential

Able to identify and manage project interdependencies and stakeholder delivery expectations

Able to maintain high delivery standards and performance of project teams, comprised of internal employees, contractors and external suppliers

Able to quickly assess and quantify short- and long-term impact of change, deal with ambiguity and uncertainty and be able to evaluate and present options to meet business expectations

Effective influencing and negotiation experience and skills in an environment with high competition for resources

Able to motivate a team, recognize good talent and bring out the best out of each individual to support project delivery
