Senior Design Engineer | Automotive Focus | Oxfordshire | Tier 1 Supplier | Competitive Salary.


Role Purpose:

You will be responsible for leading small projects, developing engineering designs from concept through to manufacture and directing other team members as required. You will be working closely with a wide range of customers from SMB’s to major OEM’s to interpret their requirements and deliver engineered solutions within weight, cost, and timing targets.


As a Senior Design Engineer you will be:

  • Reporting into a wide range of projects through the Design Group, you will have a good understanding of engineering and be able to adapt to mechanical, composite, and electrical systems.
  • Working closely with the Lead Designer you will be responsible for leading engineering designs from concept through to manufacture working within customers cost and timing requirements.
  • Responsible for leading & guiding small projects and mentoring and guiding other team members.
  • Responsible for developing 3D CAD models and 2D detail drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Attend and lead design reviews to present, discuss and critique ideas and to review and guide alternative solutions.
  • Working closely with procurement and production departments to ensure cost, manufacturing capability and quality is built into the design.
  • Generating and presenting project material to customers and key internal / external stakeholders.
  • Problem solving and fault rectification.


As a Senior Design Engineer you will have:


  • An engineering qualification (e.g. Degree) in mechanical, automotive, electrical or aerospace engineering and or be able to show capability by proven experience.
  • Experience of design in the specialist automotive or motorsport industry or be able to show that your experience is transferrable to and advanced engineering environment.
  • Experience of leading small projects or project teams.
  • High level of CAD literacy in Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Working knowledge of CATIA V5 beneficial.
  • Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work with a level of independence, respond quickly to problems and to maintain departmental standards.
