CAMHS Crisis & Outreach Team

Interact crisis team hold an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced senior practitioner, to join NELFTs London CAMHS crisis and outreach team. Interact provide crisis and outreach function to children and young people 0-17 year olds from Waltham Forest, Havering, Redbridge and Barking and Dagenham.

Main duties of the job

We offer a comprehensive assessment of an individual's mental health, psychological and social needs all aimed at supporting the thrive model.

We are presently seeking to recruit a Clinical Lead to join a dynamic team of professionals in providing a high-quality CAMHS mental health service. Carrying this portfolio specifically, the post holder will work directly with a caseload of Children regarding their use of emergency services, in order to promote prevention of mental health crises and increased engagement with community and alternative support, where this may provide better long term outcomes in their care.

The post offers a unique opportunity to consolidate and enhance clinical leadership skills in the assessment and treatment with CAMHS mental health services as well as working with a wide range of specialists and partner agencies. Applicants will need to show significant clinical experience, a working knowledge of acute mental illness, be able to work autonomously as well as co-lead a team of experienced mental health professionals to deliver a gold standard service.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High-Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High-Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of 4,313 and a maximum payment of 5,436).

Job responsibilities

- Managing and supervising a clinical team in crisis and outreach.

- MDT liaison

- Auditing

- Collaborative working with local CAMHS teams, Social care, Inpatient service, education and psychiatric liaison.

- Working alongside the Brookside leadership team.

- Holding a caseload of up to 3 complex children and young people.

-Providing staff supervision and appraisal to both qualified and non-professionally aligned staff

-Risk assessment and management within a mental health clinical setting (community/inpatient)

- Ability to perform under pressure, quickly and effectively, making timely managerial decisions and following through available agreed care pathways.

Extensive experience of working with people with complex, acute mental health needs and challenging behaviours.

Maintaining a high level of clinical excellence and experience of having developed junior staff to achieve the same.

Managing clinical services.

Providing staff supervision and appraisal to both qualified and non-professionally aligned staff

Risk assessment and management within a mental health clinical setting (community/inpatient)

Ability to perform under pressure, quickly and effectively, making timely managerial decisions and following through available agreed care pathways.

Qualifications

Essential

  • RMN, Social Care, OT qualification - Degree and above
  • Evidence of CPD, demonstrating particular knowledge and skills obtained within one of two areas of expertise, whether older age psychiatry or working age psychiatry.

Experience

Essential

  • Maintaining a high level of clinical excellence and experience of having developed junior staff to achieve the same.
  • Extensive experience of working with people with complex, acute mental health needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge of audit, research and performance management.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of and contribution to implementation of Five Year Forward View and other relevant NHS and healthcare legislation
  • Thorough knowledge of the 1983 Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and related legislation, codes of practice and guidance
  • Understanding and awareness of government agendas, as applied to adults and carers, and the ability to translate this into service requirements

  • Demonstrate an ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal / communication skills especially when handling conflict and change.
