The opportunity is to help grow RSM’s Risk andGovernance solution as an Associate Director in the Prudential Risk Advisory andAssurance Team which is part of the firm’s wider Consulting Service Line. Theteam specialises in advising clients on prudential matters across a range of financialservices subsectors and supporting them to meet the technical and commercialchallenges associated with a complex and dynamic regulatory environment.

The team has a diverse client base, from nichechallenger firms, to long-established financial institutions in a range ofjurisdictions.

Working alongside the Partner and Director group,this role will offer an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping our teamand pipeline of work in London. The successful candidate will be proactive inidentifying clients and targets in order to develop the team’s capabilities andwin new business. You will support the Partners and Directors by independentlyidentifying and initiating business development opportunities to win new workincluding active networking, writing proposals, presentations and thoughtleadership.

We support our clients through the delivery ofadvisory as well as assurance control-based services which will provide youwith the opportunity to be involved in a variety of different projects. Youwill be supported in your role by a leading training and development programmeas well as on the job training and support. 

Within RSM’s Consulting Service line you will also collaboratewith colleagues across our broader solution set (which includes BusinessTransformation, Finance Function Support, Forensics and Investigations, DealAdvisory, Restructuring alongside Risk and Governance) to create innovative andpractical opportunities to support our clients. In addition, you will linemanage a team of staff and help to develop and grow those individuals in theircareers with RSM.

The role may include travel across the region and on a national level. As youwill be a part of the Management team, the role will also include coverage ofmeetings outside of core hours.

About the job

  • Manage a Financial Services team inconjunction with Partners/Directors to ensure timely and accurate deliveryof high quality and timely Advisory service at clients’ sites whenrequired and in accordance with the firm’s Standards.
  • Initiate and lead business developmentactivities to generate growth for the Risk and Governance solution,service and Financial Services industry group.
  • Lead and manage agreed client portfolio forthe service line and regional area.
  • Approve, and if necessary prepare strategy documentationfor each client, supported by a fully costed service delivery proposal,for subsequent approval by the Director/Partner.
  • Control and manage the delivery of clientprogrammes, to ensure that the work is completed to time and budget,providing solutions on any issues as appropriate to the Director/Partner.
  • Ensure the effective planning and utilisationof team members in line with the approved budget - including mappingcomplex scheduling to optimise profitability.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and quality of workthrough undertaking effective senior manager review of the work.
  • Engage with the client billing in accordancewith the firm’s billing timescales, providing solutions to all potentialadverse issues that may impact on the achievement of the agreed clientbilling and recovery targets.
  • Deal with day-to-day team matters, includingfeedback on performance on the job, assist in appraisals, the recruitmentprocess, team welfare and H&S.
  • Build relationships with new clients andidentify/act upon all potential additional work opportunities at newclients or new work at potential clients.

Key areas of focus may include:

Capital markets; ICAAP and regulatory capitalmanagement; ILAAP and liquidity risk management; Recovery and resolutionplanning; Regulatory reporting; UK CRR; CRD; Prudential Regulation AuthorityRulebook; Financial Conduct Authority Handbook; Target Operating Model design;Regulatory gap analysis; Regulatory due diligence.

Location:
The role will be based in London.

You will assist with: Strategic initiatives;Business development activities; Developing propositions and responding totenders; Tender/pitch presentations; and Producing materials for seminars/eventson hot topics.

Delivery:

Overseeing and delivering client work. The rolewill require: managing delivery of client projects; effective stakeholderengagement and relationship management; conducting structured document reviewsand gap analysis against regulatory requirements and industry practice;structuring and conducting client interviews and process walk-throughs;developing solutions and drafting reports and detailed recommendations; qualityassurance review of work undertaken on client projects; and approval of work inline with professional standards.

About the ideal candidate

We are looking for a dynamic, ambitious and proactive individual withexperience in working in an equivalent position within a leading professional servicesfirm or large in-house function within industry. You should also have a‘can-do’ and proactive attitude and will be used to working on multipleprojects and tasks simultaneously with a proven track record in meetingdeadlines and quality standards. You will also be comfortable initiatingand leading business development activities.

As you will be interacting with senior individuals within RSM and thebusinesses that we work with, excellent communication skills, both orally andwritten, are critical to this role. You will be able to demonstrate how youhave been able to add significant value through your work and been a driver forchange in addition to the below requirements.

Requirements

  • Degree level education.
  • Chartered accountant or equivalent, relevantprofessional qualification (e.g. FRM, ACT, CertBALM).

  • High standard of written and verbalcommunication.
