The facility at Hemel Hempstead manufactures trace detection equipment based on Ion Mobility Spectrometry technology, and products such as the Ionscan 600 and the Lightweight Chemical Detector have an excellent reputation for performance and reliability in worldwide use.

ResponsibilitiesnSenior Electronic Design Engineer will work with Electronics Engineers and Software Engineers from the R&D teams for New Product Developments to support the introduction of new product design and Test equipment design.

DutiesnNew product design and Test Equipment designnDesign and build production test systems.nInvestigate electronics approaches to meet new product requirements, propose, develop and implement robust and reliable solutions to enable manufacturing to cost and throughput targets.nUnderstand and interpret technical requirement specifications. Support existing manufacturing by responding to electronics related problems causing production outages, developing additional capacity as required, and continuous improvement of existing electronics test and fabrication equipment.nInvestigate component obsolescence issues and identify solutions to support extending product lifetimes.nWork with external suppliers such as PCB manufacturers to ensure that their test capabilities are able to assure the quality and performance of incoming parts.nBe responsible for personal health and safety and that of all that may be affected by your work, following company policies for risk assessment of processes and equipment.nKeep familiar with technology development and ensure personal currency and understanding of Electronics Engineering developments

About YounElectronic Engineering related degree/HNCnAt least 5 years relevant Electronic Design for Test EquipmentnHappy to be office based 2-3 days a week.nCompetent user of schematic capture and simulation toolsnLean Manufacturing knowledgenGood IT skills, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word are essential.nExcellent team worker, able to work with minimal supervision to deliver to deadlines

DesirablenKnowledge of Military StandardsnKnowledge of Arduino based systems.nAbility to mentor and develop technicians and junior engineersnFamiliar with electromechanical/pneumatic systemsnExperience of manufacturing automation
