My client is looking for a Trainee Tax Assistant to work in either London or Weybridge.
Key Responsibilities of a Trainee Tax Assistant
• Preparing UK agent authority request/SA1/US Power of attorney forms when we take on a client
• Drafting of information request emails and downloading of aide memoire to attach
• Set up of virtual client files for the UK and US tax preparation including scanning in documents to create a workpaper file, saving required template Points To Note' and cover e mail/transmittal letter into the file ready for tailoring. Entering or downloading salary and interest and other basic data into the return
• Preparing US and or UK tax returns for our clients based on a brief provided by an appropriate member of the team
• Checking and confirming to client any tax repayment
• Drafting of 31 January and 31 July payment reminder emails
• 15 April estimate work in connection clients required to submit US tax returns
• Drafting quarterly US Estimated Tax reminders where appropriate
• Calls to HMRC/IRS as needed
• Drafting invoice requests based on fee quotes for the appropriate team member to review and submit to the accounts team.
Key Competencies of a Trainee Tax Assistant
• Willingness to work as part of a team
• Ability to work to deadlines as appropriate
• Good IT skills
• Interest in developing knowledge of the US and or UK tax systems
• Willingness to work towards relevant professional obligations
