About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join our high-performing team and deliver top-tier management accounting services within a leading cultural institution. In this role, you will be responsible for embedding best practices in fund accounting, grant management, and the financial aspects of the institution's advancement strategy and public engagement activities. This is a unique opportunity to work with an outstanding team in a world-renowned environment.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Support: Assist the Collections and Public Engagement business areas in developing and monitoring public engagement and advancement strategies. Provide expert advice on fund accounting, grant management, heritage assets accounting, and financial processes.
- Project Work: Advise colleagues on institution-wide projects, develop processes, and contribute financial expertise. Analyse income and expenditure streams, provide, and review financial information for business cases and funding applications.
- Accounting Services and Line Management: Manage a team of management accountants, including mentoring and development. Prepare management reports and quarterly forecasts. Support budgeting processes across projects, and coordinate financial information for reports, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and other activities.
About You:
- Education: Degree level or equivalent.
- Qualification: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Experience: Previous work experience in fund accounting and grant management. Strong technical knowledge of relevant regulatory and accounting frameworks (including Accounting Standards, VAT, income tax, NI). IT literacy with strong Excel skills and experience in accounting systems.
- Audit and Project Management: Post-qualification audit experience and experience in project management.
- Management Skills: Ability to manage a diverse range of individuals, juggle conflicting demands, and prioritize personal and team workloads effectively. Strong judgment and ability to present complex financial information clearly to both senior and non-financial staff. Problem-solving skills, flexibility, and a willingness to take on new tasks as needed.
