The successful candidate will provide leadership on engineering matters for the project. You will focus on technical matters, quality control and temporary works whilst giving support and guidance to your engineering team. Additionally, you will work with the Project and Construction Managers to ensure that the scope of work is delivered to the defined cost, time and quality and contractual requirements.

You will be a proactive, dynamic individual with an inquisitive problem-solving mindset. You will be a listener who is decisive in making fact-based decisions.

The RolenThe successful candidate will provide leadership on engineering matters for the project. You will focus on technical matters, quality control and temporary works whilst giving support and guidance to your engineering team.Additionally, you will work with the Project and Construction Managers to ensure that the scope of work is delivered to the defined cost, time and quality and contractual requirements.

You will have a work history that demonstrates controlled career progression ideally through the stages of setting out engineer, section engineer, and senior engineer and onwards towards project engineer. Most of this experience will have been obtained with groundworks and RC frame contractors.

You will be a proactive, dynamic individual with an inquisitive problem solving mindset. You will be a listener who is decisive in making fact based decisions.

Key Responsibilities

To ensure that the project’s engineering team, roles, skills and behaviour are aligned with the Company’s objectives and project requirements;nManage and provide guidance and support to the Company’s project engineering team.nUnderstand the project programme and be aware of evolving priorities.nAssist the Company’s Project Manager with the development of Safe Systems of Work.nManage and control the temporary works process (TWC role).nManage and control the quality control process.nReview project documentation i.e., drawings, specifications, and national standards, and manage the technical query process.nAttend and contribute to meetings as required by the project e.g. DABS, daily planning, weekly progress meetings, design review meetings, etc.nAssist with the ordering of materials, plant, and equipment in a timely manner.nEngage with designers, sub-contractors, and suppliers.nTo represent the company in a professional manner.nTo assist the Project Manager with the production of the Project Quality Plan, Construction Phase Plan, Site Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) as necessarynTo remain current and knowledgeable in the Byrne Group SMS and QMS.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred, however technical qualifications and engineering experience would provide an acceptable alternative;nS.M.S.T.S and TWC;nLifting operations AP qualification would be advantageous;nProven experience in a similar role within the construction industry (groundworks and RC works preferred).nStrong leadership and people management skills;nDynamic individual with a positive mindset to address challenges in the right way;nExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities as well as being able to motivate and inspire the team;nThorough understanding of Health and Safety regulations with the ability to manage and mitigate risk;nAbility to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively with influence;nSound knowledge of construction regulations and best practices;nCommercially aware;nProficient in setting out;nProficiency in computer software applications and document control systems.
