Head of Skills & Training
Flannery Plant Hire is a leading provider of plant hire and specialist attachments to the construction industry across the UK and Ireland. With a comprehensive fleet of innovative machinery, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and meeting our clients' project requirements.
The Head of Skills and Training is responsible for maintaining, managing, and developing Flannery Plant Hire's training and development programs. This role involves overseeing all CPCS Plant Trainers, the national Skills Hub’s, and training provisions across the organisation. The successful candidate will ensure that our workforce is adequately trained and certified to deliver an exceptional level of service while adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Skills and Training function at Flannery Plant Hire.
* Manage and develop a team of CPCS Plant Trainers, ensuring they possess the necessary qualifications, skills, and training to deliver high-quality training programs.
* Oversee the performance and development of the national Skills Hub, ensuring that it operates efficiently and meets the needs of the organisation.
* Develop and implement an annual training plan, in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain a thorough understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to training in the plant hire sector.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify training needs and develop customized training programs to meet those needs.
* Develop and manage relationships with external training partners and certification bodies to ensure access to best-in-class training resources and certifications.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through training metrics and feedback from trainees and trainers.
* Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and industry best practices in all training activities.
* Stay up-to-date with advancements in training methods, technologies, and industry trends to continuously improve the training and development programs.
* Manage the training budget and ensure cost-effective delivery of training programs.
* Analyse training data and trends to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for enhancements to the training curriculum.
* Attend regular training events and customer led events showcasing Flannery’s training and Skills offering
Qualifications and Experience:
* Extensive experience in training and development, preferably in the construction or plant hire industry.
* Must be willing to travel and stay away from home to visit all national training centres.
* Be a hands-on individual that isn’t afraid of getting their hands dirty
* Strong knowledge of plant equipment and CPCS certification processes.
* Proven experience in managing and developing a team of trainers.
* Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and training requirements.
* Strong project management and organisational skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
* Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse training data and make data-driven decisions.
* Familiarity with learning management systems and other training technologies.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
This is a senior-level position that offers the opportunity to shape and drive the training and development function at Flannery Plant Hire.
