Role Purpose: To spearhead the organisation's strategic approach to proactively addressing damp, mould, and housing disrepair issues. This role will champion a collaborative, risk-based methodology aligned with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS. The Healthy Homes Manager will drive a culture shift towards preventative measures, ensuring compliance and fostering a healthier living environment for residents.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
* Develop, implement a comprehensive strategy, and action plan to tackle damp, mould, and housing disrepair issues, aligning with HHSRS principles.
* Establish clear goals, timelines, performance measures, and expected outcomes for addressing these critical issues.
* Identify potential challenges and develop mitigation plans to ensure successful implementation of the strategy.
The Healthy Homes Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's approach to housing hazards, ensuring a proactive and preventative mindset is embedded across all relevant teams and processes.
Culture Change and Stakeholder Engagement:
* Function as a change agent, promoting a proactive and preventative approach to addressing housing hazards.
* Foster a culture of risk-based assessment and prioritization of housing issues across the organisation.
* Engage with internal stakeholders (e.g., surveying teams, legal disrepair teams, housing officers, environmental health teams) to build understanding, secure buy-in, and drive collaboration.
* Consult with external stakeholders (e.g., landlords, property professionals, resident groups) to educate, align expectations, and gather feedback.
Effective communication and stakeholder management will be crucial in driving the cultural shift towards a proactive and preventative approach to housing hazards. The Healthy Homes Manager will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration.
Leadership and Management:
* Provide strategic leadership and management to the surveying teams, legal disrepair teams, and related processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and effective interventions for complex issues.
* Implement changes to support teams in resolving disrepair cases efficiently, reducing caseloads, and preventing future claims.
* Collaborate with the senior management team in Building Maintenance to deliver on service plan objectives and address key issues related to damp, mould, and disrepair resolution and prevention.
The Healthy Homes Manager will be responsible for leading and managing cross-functional teams, ensuring efficient processes, and driving continuous improvement in addressing housing hazards.
Training and Capability Building:
* Assess the training needs of relevant teams and develop a comprehensive training plan on HHSRS principles, assessment methods, and enforcement guidance.
* Ensure staff receive ongoing coaching and support to build organizational capability in addressing housing hazards.
