Espalier’s principal education business is INTO University Partnerships, the global leader in international student recruitment and education, operating under a unique joint venture model with 23 universities in the US and UK. iO-Sphere is one of Espalier Ventures’ early stage businesses, launched to source, train and place bright and ambitious individuals in data science & data analytics roles at exceptional organisations. About the rolenEspalier Ventures is hiring for a talented and entrepreneurial Financial Director to lead the financial strategy and execution across its growing portfolio of education start-ups (including iO-Sphere). We are looking for someone to help drive growth, profitability, fundraising and financial sustainability for our existing businesses as well as launch new ventures and potentially acquire and/or invest in other businesses. The Financial Director will pay a crucial role in developing and implementing effective financial strategies that align with our companies' goals and objectives, managing fundraising and investor relations to ensure the company has adequate financial resources to support growth and innovation, ensuring our companies operate within regulatory frameworks and mitigates financial risks, providing accurate and timely financial information and building and leading a strong and effective finance team.

Responsibilities:nDevelop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectivesnLead and manage the finance team, including setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback, and creating a positive and collaborative work culturenCollaborate with other executives to develop and implement the company's overall business strategy and ensure financial sustainabilitynCreate and manage a financial plan and budget, allocating resources effectively to achieve maximum return on investmentnAnalyze and evaluate financial performance, identifying opportunities for growth, optimization, and risk mitigationnOversee financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, tax, audit, and compliancenEstablish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including investors, lenders, and vendors, to manage financial risk and secure funding as needednEnsure financial policies and procedures are in place and adhered to, promoting transparency and accountability
Ideal Requirements:nProven experience as a Financial Director or in a similar finance leadership role in a startup or fast-paced environmentnStrong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and lead an effective finance teamnExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholdersnDemonstrated ability to analyse and evaluate financial data and metrics, with a deep understanding of finance analytics and toolsnExperience in developing and implementing financial strategies, financial planning, budgeting, and forecastingnStrong business acumen and financial acuity, with the ability to provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-makingnExperience in fundraising and M&AnRight to work in the UK (unfortunately we are not able to accept candidates requiring sponsorship at this time)nFully qualified accountantnFluent in written and spoken English
