Job Overview
As a Transport Planner , you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods across the UK. Your primary responsibility will be to plan, schedule, and optimise delivery routes, ensuring that our fleet operates at maximum efficiency while meeting the needs of our customers. You will work closely with drivers, and the wider logistics team to deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
* Route Planning & Optimisation: Plan and schedule daily delivery routes across the UK, ensuring that all deliveries are completed on time and in the most cost-effective manner.
* Fleet Coordination: Coordinate with drivers to manage daily schedules, providing them with clear instructions and ensuring compliance with legal driving hours and safety regulations.
* Customer Service: Liaise with customers to confirm delivery requirements, address any concerns, and provide updates on delivery status.
* Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any issues that arise during the transport process, including delays, vehicle breakdowns, or changes in customer requirements.
* Compliance & Safety: Ensure all transport activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including health and safety standards, and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience: Proven experience as a Transport Planner
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK road networks, transport regulations, and route planning software.
* Skills: Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
* IT Proficiency: Competent in using transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office
