Stevenage, United Kingdom Social Personnel Full time
At Hertfordshire County Council, we have a bold ambition to deliver the best possible quality of life for every member of our community.
We want people to enjoy a good level of physical and mental health and for them to find exceptional employment opportunities, and we want them to enjoy all that this local area has to offer, safe in the knowledge that they have a comfortable home in a great neighbourhood. These ambitions are particularly important to our innovative service and find an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of Disabled Children and Young People.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with disabled children in partnership with their families working with education and health professionals. You will be based in a Locality Team where you will work with a variety of children and young people. In your role you will complete Assessments, manage a caseload to support children in need as well as those who are at risk of significant harm including working in PLO or proceedings.
With your knowledge, skills and experience you will demonstrate your understanding of the legal framework and multi-disciplinary nature of our work to support Disabled Children and their Families. You will assess different needs and circumstances, endeavouring to help people establish independence (either now or in the future) while balancing this with safeguarding considerations. In some situations, you will have the unique and privileged opportunity to work with children and families over the long term, remaining their allocated social worker as they journey to adulthood. You will provide disabled children and their families with a considered level of support, advising them on resources within the community, and you will collaborate with both statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver the best possible life outcomes, together.
Every day will present you with new and exciting challenges but truly rewarding and offers you the opportunity to broaden your skills and experiences, getting to do social work that has, at its heart, an absolute desire to enable and empower disabled children and their families. From your initial assessments through to overseeing the planning and delivery of services – and then monitoring the success of these measures – you will play a vital role in keeping disabled children and young people happy and safe.
In return our team will support you to achieve great things every day with excellent learning and development opportunities to help you be the best that you can be
