About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant educational community in Oxfordshire. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of students, whether in mainstream or Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings. The successful candidate will support teachers in delivering high-quality education and provide tailored assistance to students to enhance their learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the class teacher in preparing and delivering engaging lessons.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, including those with SEN, to facilitate their academic, social, and emotional development.
Support the integration of SEN students within mainstream classes, ensuring an inclusive learning environment.
Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to parent-teacher meetings.
Supervise and support students during extracurricular activities, breaks, and school trips.
Assist in managing classroom behavior, promoting a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
Perform administrative tasks such as preparing resources, maintaining student records, and setting up equipment.
Collaborate with other teaching assistants, SEN coordinators, and school staff to share best practices and strategies.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with children in an educational setting, preferably with both mainstream and SEN students.
A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, SEN qualifications).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the educational and developmental needs of all students.
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the classroom.
Knowledge of various SEN conditions and effective teaching strategies to support diverse learners.
Basic IT skills for record-keeping and resource preparation.
Desirable:
Experience in delivering interventions or support programs for students with SEN.
Training in behavior management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
