About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Psychology graduate to join our educational team in Oxfordshire as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain valuable experience in an educational setting, supporting both mainstream and Special Educational Needs (SEN) students. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and educational staff to enhance student learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist classroom teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, including those with SEN, to facilitate their academic and personal growth.
Utilize psychological principles to support the emotional and social development of students.
Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Monitor and report on student progress, contributing to assessments and parent-teacher meetings.
Support classroom management and promote a positive learning environment.
Assist in the preparation of lesson materials, resources, and classroom displays.
Supervise students during extracurricular activities, breaks, and school trips.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other educational staff to share insights and strategies.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training sessions.

Requirements:

A degree in Psychology or a related field.
A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education and working with children.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and an understanding of the diverse needs of students.
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the classroom.
Basic IT skills for record-keeping and resource preparation.

Desirable (not mandatory):

Previous experience working with children in any setting (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering).
Knowledge of various SEN conditions and strategies for support.
Training in behavior management techniques.
First Aid certification.
An understanding of the Oxfordshire education system and local community.
