Data Protection Manager

Hours Per Week - 37.5

Reporting to the Data Protection Officer and based within the DPO Function, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the data protection compliance framework of the group and wider group entities, ensuring privacy and data protection compliance and advising key stakeholders on data privacy issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Day to day management of data protection activities and advise the group on privacy compliance.
  • Hands-on data protection expert and a primary point of contact for data protection and security queries.
  • Monitor and report on the group's overall data protection and privacy compliance.
  • Support the review and completion of key risk assessments - DPIAs, ROPAs, LIAs, IDTA etc.
  • Maintain and support the Data Champions network.
  • Manage data protection incidents and data subject requests.
  • Review and update data protection policies, processes and procedures.
  • Refer matters to DPO as required.
  • Review third party due diligence and contracts with the support of Legal team to ensure data protection standards are met.
  • Plan and contribute to the Information Security & Compliance Working Groups.
  • Research and document future requirements driven by changes in legislation and security enhancing technologies.
  • Line management of the Data Protection team.
  • Proactively identify, manage and mitigate business risks encountered as part of your day-to-day role

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Data protection professional qualifications (IAPP, BCS, ISEB etc).
  • Extensive experience and application of UK and EU Data Protection and privacy legislation - GDPR, DPA 2018 and PECR.
  • Experience implementing data protection measures and information security standards.
  • Ability to lead and deliver change in a collaborative manner.
  • Team player with a can-do attitude providing solutions to problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and take a pragmatic risk-based approach to data protection compliance.
  • Can build effective relationships with key stakeholders at all levels in the organisation.
  • Experience embedding a culture of privacy and promoting privacy strategies.
  • Ability to train and coach team members to enhance their knowledge.
  • A self-starter, able to work autonomously when required.
