What you'll be doing:

  • Responsible to the Flying Operations Post Holder (FOPH) for the safe and efficient conduct of Uncrewed Air System flying operations across a number of Falcon Works UAS programmes
  • Provision of SQEP UAS advice to the FOPH and programme teams
  • Fully participate in the trials risk evaluation process for allocated UAS aircraft trials and ensure that risks are elevated to FOPH when appropriate
  • Responsible for operational validation and aircrew approval of Aircraft Documentation Sets for UAS
  • Represent SQEP aircrew advice at Project Safety Committees for UAS thus providing assurance to the Head of Flying that design hazards are being appropriately mitigated
  • Delivering training to the internal crew for UAS

    Your skills and experiences:

    Essentials:
  • Minimum of 3 years participation in complex and demanding UAS flight operations as a UAS-P or UAS-C
  • Experience of operating a large complex UAS
  • Military pilot experience flying Tucano, Texan, Hawk or similar combat aircraft would be an advantage
  • UAS-P/C with experience of operating UAS in the military or civilian environment

    Desirables:
  • EUK CAA or EASA CPL/IR
  • Test and Evaluation experience

    The UAS Pilot team:

    The Uncrewed Air System Pilot (UAS-P) will be responsible for safe and effective conduct of airborne test flights required by various BAE Systems Falcon Works UAS programmes.

    Such tests flights will include experimental, development, production and maintenance test flights. The UAS-P will be responsible for provision of Suitably Qualified Experienced Personnel (SQEP) advice to uncrewed air system programmes at all levels of the business.
