My client is currently seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join a strong multi-disciplined R&D team in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. This is an opportunity to join one of the leading companies in the UK - the R&D group focuses on developing highly complex scientific instrumentation and are responsible for developing new products from concept through to manufacture, as well as supporting manufacturing with ongoing product lines.

Key responsibilities of the Embedded Software Engineer job:

  • To design and develop embedded software within projects and collaborate with other engineers when required
  • Have an understanding of the electronic and embedded software requirements for new products, develop specifications and test new concepts by simulation or prototyping
  • Drive the development of prototypes, performance and verification testing.
  • Support compliance, regulatory and quality requirements
  • Engage in all phases of NPI (concept, architecture documentation, design, prototype, test, supplier interfaces, and manufacturing introduction)

Key skills / experience needed for the Embedded Software Engineer job:

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electronics/Physics/Engineering with a Computing bias
  • Proven experience in a high technology environment of taking embedded software designs from concept through to full manufacturing, ideally programming in C / C++
  • The ability to use real-time operating systems and developing with embedded Linux
  • Experience with general digital hardware designs using glue logic and programmable devices such as CPLDs, FPGAs, ASICs and their programming tools
