To assist the nursing team in planning, implementation and evaluation of holistic patient care.

To care for and assist patients as required.


Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others in the ophthalmic team to meet the needs of the patients and their families.

Participate in the development of self and others

To ensure all clients/patients attending clinic are treated with dignity and respect.
To ensure all clients/patients have the appropriate diagnostic tests indicated.
Prioritise own workload and organise own work on a daily basis to ensure the smooth running of the service.

To provide an efficient and safe environment for clients and staff, reporting any potential safety issues to an appropriate team member.

To work with the wider ophthalmic multidisciplinary team.
Assist in clinical procedures as appropriate.
To maintain high standards of infection control procedures according to the Trust and service policies.

To act as a chaperone taking into account cultural and religious beliefs, as directed by the clinical staff whist promoting a positive image of the service.

Identify, report and contribute to recording to the appropriate team member any child protection and vulnerable adult issues observed during your duties, according to legislation and Trust policy.

To report sickness, absence and any accident/incident to the manager or deputy
